I met Colleen in May of 2019 after I had just lost my Jack Russell, Rock. I was told by the Vet’s Office in Durham that she had a litter of puppies and I got in touch with her. I had also just lost my job as well. I went and met her and the puppies and fell in love with one of her female puppies and thatbegan our history together. She worked with me since I had lost my job and I fell in love with one of her puppies. I had Mandy, for 16 years when I lost her in April of 2025. So I contacted her again and I am looking forward to bringing another one of her puppies home with us again. You won’t go wrong working with Colleen as she is very knowledgeable about her dogs but also she is a compassionate person. Hopefully sometime this spring, I will have another little girl to love. As matter of fact, my husband has already named her and he is really looking forward to one as well.

We first contacted Colleen (SGR) about wanting a lab puppy in the spring of 2025. We had been through a bad experience with a previous breeder and were cautious about approaching a new one. Upon first contact Colleen was extremely compassionate with what we had experienced and went out of her way to answer every single question I could come up with. She even took the time to do a phone call with me when she could tell I was still nervous about the process. She went into great detail about the process she goes through to pick what dogs she uses and the excellent temperament and health she strives for. She was always open to every question and never made me feel like I was an inconvenience. We put a deposit down on a puppy and were cautiously optimistic. We were provided with updates frequently and guided on next steps. Since bringing our puppy home in July of 2025 we have been nothing short of grateful. We took it with a grain of salt when Colleen described the temperament of her puppies, but Murphy has exceeded every hope we had. He has greeted every new experience with joy and confidence and has blown us away with his loving and eager to please personality. He has been a picture of health and conformation and a joy every single day. He is full of love and looks to be with his people at every turn and has impressed everyone he has ever met. We have 5 children who he has treated with adoration and respect since day one. We are eternally grateful for the gift he is and are fully planning on bringing home another SGR puppy in the near future. We cannot say enough good things about Colleen and SGR.

In late July of 2025 we opened our hearts and family up to the sweetest yellow English Lab, Henry. He is the perfect combination of a calm (but loves to play too), blocky physique and the sweetest, most loyal temperament we’ve ever encountered. We spoke with multiple breeders before deciding on which to purchase from and SGR was very detailed on testing, bloodlines, truly prioritizing health and temperament. SGR provided routine puppy updates with pictures/videos, very responsive to additional questions as well. I will end with, Henry has brought an incredible sense of joy and companionship to our home. He is truly the heart of our family!
